Bids for Funding
Wednesday 24 March 2004
The first successful bid was received from the Proud Prestonian Millennium Award. The award was for eight young people aged 14 to 25 to receive training and equipment to enable them to produce a website for PADDA, an edition of the Newsletter and a CD-ROM presentation on dyslexia. Training was provided on the voice-activated software Dragon Naturally Speaking, the Disability Discrimination Act, website design software and publishing.
The Newsletter will be sent to every school in Preston and hopefully to libraries and youth groups.
The website will provide invaluable help and support to dyslexics and the CD-ROM will also go into schools.
PADDA has also been awarded money from the Community Chest to buy a laptop, new resource items and hire rooms at INTAG.
We have now secured funding to buy Lucid, a software package which helps with screening for dyslexia.
